Sanda Communications online product launch chosen as best Web marketing case study

PORTLAND, Ore. - August 10, 2007 - Sanda Communications president Jerry W. Saveriano announced today that the agency’s strategy of creating social networking sites for business has been chosen as the number one case study by IBM Distinguished Engineer and Web marketing expert Mike Moran. The case study, which details Sanda’s online video product launch of the Trimble Nomad rugged handheld computer, is featured on Moran’s Web site .

"There was some risk in launching a B2B product using a new social network. But, we thought it would work, and the client liked the idea," Saveriano said. "We're delighted to be included among Mr. Moran's case studies for Web 2.0 marketing, but even more so by the success of the Nomad launch and the interest it has generated among Trimble's customers and the trade press."

Since the Nomad launch, membership and traffic have spiked at the Trimble site, www.OutdoorRugged.com , and news of the Nomad appeared on more than 20 online media sites within days of the launch.

"Sanda's innovative use of a Web 2.0 social network platform for business clients is a great example of where marketing is heading," Moran said. "Companies like Trimble are recognizing they can use professional networks to build ongoing conversations with their customers and ultimately increase sales."

Moran is an IBM Distinguished Engineer and Product Manager of IBM's OmniFind search software. Author of Search Engine Marketing, Inc . and Do It Wrong Quickly , Moran is expert in search marketing, search technology, publishing, Web personalization, and Web metrics. He is a frequent speaker on search marketing and other subjects, including the Internet Strategy Forum Executive Summit Conference in Portland last month.

Sanda is building on the lessons of the Trimble project with its next professional networking site for the Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnologies Institute (ONAMI). The ONAMI site will be launched as part of the annual Micro Nano Breakthrough Conference September 10-12 in Portland.
