Deb Hedding will lead the chapter as they plan new programs for the professional community

PORTLAND, Ore. - Four new names will appear on the Public Relations Society of America Portland Metro Chapter Board of Directors as a result of the election that took place on Dec. 13 at the Meet the Media Breakfast at Meier & Frank's Georgian Room Restaurant in downtown Portland.

Linfield College's Dr. Macy Guppy, APR, was voted in as president-elect and chair of the 2001 Oregon Spotlight Awards. Olga Hayly, APR, of Power Public Relations, Karl Hofmeister of New Venture Communications and Jim Haynes, APR, of Jim Haynes Communications round out the slate of new board members to be led by 2001 President Deb Hedding of Sanda Communications. Christie Holmgren, APR, of the Oregon Dept. of Transportation, returns to the board after a one-year hiatus.

The board will meet in January to flesh out specific goals for the new year. "We need to ramp up our professional development programs, but more specifically, we need to look at how we can reach out to Oregon's universities," said Hedding. "We need to find out how we can help educators prepare the type of public relations professionals needed to support successful Pacific Northwest businesses and organizations," she said.
